Red face customized weapons after character rename

I hope this hasn't asked before... i searched for it but i couldnt find what i am looking for.

The thing is that i just had a ban for an "unacceptable name" (i still dont agree on that, but that is a different story).

I had to rename 15 of my chars. I always customize my weapons for the 20% extra damage. Now when i look at my customized weapons i still see that theye are customized for my old nicknames (bug??)...

Does anyone know if i still get the extra damage or not (i am a noob when it comes to test these kind of things myself)??

pretty sure you won't even be able to use the weapons anymore ...not a bug..its the cost of customization...only being able to use with that one character...or that characters heros.

Although since you "had" to change your names i am not sure if thats the case...if you CAN still use them...then i imagine you can still get the bonus from them.

The names don't matter, it's the sort of random code that is assigned to the character itself that allows you to equip it.

Like, say, if you have a "Destroyer of Worlds" with a customized IDS and then make a new "Destroyer of Worlds", then it won't work.

I think that's right anyway. Heard it from someone before. Idk :P

You should still be getting the extra 20% damage. After all, if the game didn't recognize those character names as being "correct" then you wouldn't be able to equip those weapons at all.

I once had to rename a char and every time since then that I've bought him new armor, it says "customized for <original name>".

What strikes me is that you had *15* chars with inappropriate names?!!

I have 2 inappropriate characters just never been forced to change (I would like to change them along with one that is not inappropriate) I named them what I did about 14 months ago due to the fact I was sitting at character create screen for hours each time trying to get a name I wanted and they were all taken and ended up getting pissed a couple of times and naming them something rude..and in the other one I was in a hurry as it was my first character and didn't want to set for hours so just typed something in quick thinking I would not play the toon very far just wanted to see what game was like andd ended up beating Factions with him the next day with lots of help from my guild and didn't want to spend the money to recreate the same class and do over since so amny had helped me. If they can let you change name for ban they should let us all change name because we want to

Well yes, my main account has 18 chars on 18 slots (all 10 profs, some pvp only chars and some mules)... and 15 of them started the same way (according to anet that was the unacceptable part )

My armors also say "customized for <orginal name>"... but the customized weapons for my heroes say "customized for <new name>"... kinda confusing

The "renaming" is cosmetic only. All customized items will still refer to the original name and can be used by the character.

ANet's policy has always been no renaming unless they declare the name offensive. An employee has to spend time to make the change and with unlimited renaming would probably be doing it full time.

If you have an offensive name and want to trigger a name change request then have a friend report you.
